Community Safety
Last updated: November 7, 2026
Flamelingo exists to help people learn languages. Nothing on this page is complicated: treat other people like humans, keep sexual content away from everyone, and keep minors safe. Here is exactly how we enforce that.
What is never allowed
- Nudity or sexually explicit content of any kind, in text, images, audio, or video.
- Sexual remarks, advances, or roleplay directed at another user.
- Any sexual content involving or depicting minors. This is reported, not just banned.
- Harassment, threats, doxxing, or hate speech.
- Recording or redistributing another user's session, face, voice, or data without consent.
- Lying about your age or helping someone else lie about theirs.
How reporting works
- Tap the flag icon in the app header at any time.
- Pick a category: nudity or sexual content, harassment, spam, underage user, or other.
- Add details if you can. The report automatically includes the last few messages of your session as context, so moderators see what happened.
- A human reviews every report. Outcomes: no action, warning, temporary suspension, or permanent ban. Underage and sexual-content reports are prioritized.
Banned accounts see "Account suspended pending review" and lose access immediately. Ban evasion (new accounts to get around a ban) extends the ban.
Why video features require ID verification
Anonymous video chat has a documented safety record, and it is bad. Omegle, the best known anonymous video chat service, shut down in November 2023 after its founder acknowledged the platform's misuse, following years of reports and lawsuits over child exploitation on the service. We are not going to repeat that design mistake.
Before anyone enters a Flamelingo video room, they must pass identity verification (KYC):
- Government-issued photo ID proving you are 18 or older.
- A selfie to match the ID.
- Explicit consent to our recording and moderation policy: video sessions may be sampled by moderators, and reported sessions are reviewed.
- Agreement to these community rules.
No verification, no video. This keeps minors out of video rooms entirely and means every participant in a video session is identifiable if they harm someone. KYC documents are stored outside the public web root with restricted permissions, used only for verification, and deleted when no longer needed. See the Privacy Policy.
Protecting minors
- Users under 13 are not allowed at all (COPPA).
- Users 13 to 17 may use text tutoring with guardian consent, and never video.
- The AI tutor is instructed to keep all content appropriate and to refuse sexual or romantic roleplay with any user.
- "Underage user" is a first-class report category and is reviewed with priority.
What we ask of you
Report what you see. One tap on the flag icon is enough. You do not need to be the target of the behavior to report it, and reports are confidential: the reported user is not told who reported them.
